After my home and worldly possessions were destroyed in the recent fires in Los Angeles in January 2025, I became interested in art as a form of transformation. Transformation of traumatic events in life into fuel for creative action, but also transformation of destroyed or disused materials into elements to organize form within the paintings. In the recent work discarded offcuts and strips of canvas are recycled and utilized for compositions that embody the spirit of rising from the ashes. The resultant works – entitled ‘Entanglement Series’ – allude to a kind of resonance between vibrating strings on the quantum scale, and ribbons in motion interacting like a pair of dancers.
