Born in Belfast in 1968, Gary graduated with a MA in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh. His large scale public artworks have since been featured at festivals in Europe, Australia, and the US.
After moving to the US he worked as a muralist on MTV Music videos, and Feature films – specializing in perspective illusions, while developing his independent Art practice. He has undertaken Public Art commissions for the Ulster Museum, Belfast, Brent City Council, London, and local Non-profits such as – Venice Community Housing, and Friends of Ballona Wetlands. Travels in East Africa were the inspiration for ‘Journey to Zanzibar’ – a series of abstract figurative paintings, published as limited edition prints by Fathom Gallery.
After living for a period of time at a meditation retreat near the border to Mexico, Gary’s work took a more conceptual and contemplative direction. ‘Distilled landscapes’ were exhibited in a solo show at Tarryn Teresa Gallery, Bergamot Station in 2008, and his ‘Particulate Fields’ a series of peace meditations were the subject of a show entitled, ‘Moments of Stillness’ in 2015. His work is collected by some notable actors such as – Catherine Zeta Jones, Halle Berry, and Jamie Harris.
